Chicago Auto Show: R32 To Return This Summer
Feb. 8, 2007
The high-performance Volkswagen R32 will return this summer — and owners of the GTI and previous-generation R32 are getting first dibs.
VW Of America is notifying these owners of the limited-edition hot hatch, who can then put a deposit down for one of the first 832 R32s off the boat in August.
The racing-inspired R32 is powered by a 3.2-liter VR6.
Its 250 horsepower are put to the pavement via a slick-shifting dual-clutch six-speed transmission, 4Motion all-wheel drive, and 18-inch wheels and tires.
VW says 0-to-60 MPH comes in 6.4 seconds.
Both sport and luxury are represented — with front and rear spoilers, a low sport suspension, dual exhaust pipes, chrome grille with matt finish, aluminum-look pedals, heated sport seats, auto climate control, rain-sensing wipers and auto-dimming rearview mirror. Two options are a navigation system and higher-performance tires.
Like the first R32, the new one is limited to 5,000 copies. Price is set at $32,990 (excluding VW's freight charge).
The first R32 sold out — so expect this one to do the very same.
