Awards Pile Up For GTI
Jan. 17, 2007
Automobile Of The Year is the latest in a flurry of awards for VW's hot hatch.
Gavin Conway, Automobile magazine editor-in-chief, presents the trophy to Adrian Hallmark, executive vice-president of Volkswagen Of America, at the Detroit auto show.
Hardly a week goes by when Volkswagen's GTI doesn't pick up an award.
With the turning of the new year, many media have announced their choices for most significant vehicles in various categories. The GTI has been a popular pick.
The latest and perhaps most flattering is Automobile's 2007 Automobile Of The Year, profiled in the magazine's February issue, on stands now. It noted the GTI "feels like it has more build quality than anything within miles of its price point."
Awards and distinctions recently bestowed upon the GTI include:
Automobile Automobile Of The Year,
Car And Driver 10Best,
Road And Track Best Cars Under $30,000,
Autobytel Best New Performance Car Under $40,000,
Popular Mechanics Automotive Excellence Award for Driving Fun,
and Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Award.
It seems consumers looking for a balance of performance and practicality can't go wrong with the GTI.
